About Monika

Disco Computer · Disco Computer featuring Monika Ciura

ETA: Seems iFrames aren’t compatible with certain things like
iPhones and Tony’s Samsung Galaxy 10. That said, the text links above
work fine, and iFrames seem fine with iPads, Chrome and Microsoft edge Browsers
(at least the 5th generation one Tony owns)…

Monika Ciura was the original vocalist for Disco computer, joining way back in late 2006. Monika’s genuine talent routinely put Tony’s efforts to shame and her charm and grace on stage and off won her many hearts over the years, including Tony’s.

But Monika actually had a long history with Music, both as a vocalist and as a Singing teacher, to the point that Monika is one of the few people who’s workload actually increased due to the Worldwide Zombie Apocalypse…

When Tony first met Monika, she was the lead singer of “The Mockingbirds”, and was one of two vocalists performing a mix of 60’s inspired cover versions. More recently she was also part of the Hard rock cover outfit “Diversion”, pumping out classics from Pat Benatar, as well as more recent numbers from P!nk

As well as that she can often be found travelling far and wide, performing as backing vocalist for Sydney based Funk outfit “Lek Fonq“, fronted by her Brother David Ciura.

Sadly, not long after our Facebook live event in July 2020 (our last performance together), Monika developed a particularly nasty set of cancerous tumours and while she fought damn hard to overcome them, she lost that battle, passing away on July 4th, 2021…
