About Tony

Tony has a long history in music spanning WAY too long for him to be comfortable with.

Having first gained an interest in music after discovering the then burgeoning new wave music scene of the late 1970’s/Early 1980s, he spent the next few years discovering as much about electronic music as he possibly could before buying his 1st synthesizers (The monophonic synths, the Roland SH09 and the Roland SH101 for the music nerds amongst us) in the mid 1980’s.

Tony then spent the next 18 months trying to
work out how those synths actually worked!

I can haz a Radio Station…

It was around then that he joined 3D Radio in Adelaide where he hosted many shows (including a weekly breakfast show) lasting almost five years. But making music was always his passion and he formed Psychotronix with Sasha Carruozzo & Chris Gaston. However Melbourne beckoned and Chris and Tony moved to the city to explore electronica, in an age where it wasn’t good to actually BE an electronic band, something that wasn’t rectified until Acid house/House & Techno kicked in the early 1990’s.

An Announcer with PBS FM in Melbourne since 1993, Tony’s Radio Show “IrvineJUMP!” has kept Audiences enthralled for a period spanning three decades! In the time he has been there, he has been an announcer, a category coordinator and an assistant to the program manager

Tony has also played in many bands over the years, and for reasons unknown to anyone, his first gigging band, Psychotronix has gained some notoriety in more recent years!
